Protein crunch bars {gf + v/vegan MOFO}

Today’s vegan Mofo theme is a bit strange to me because I’m a homebody who fiercely protects her personal space and alone time (Man-thing and cats don’t count as “other people” and therefore don’t bother me). We do take an annual holiday admittedly but then the answer to the question of what we would bring on a vegan road trip is “everything”. Raspberry chocolate freezer bars

I admit it, I’m pretty exhausted. I’ve been napping of late (which I never do) and schloffing my feet around because we’re nearing that time of year where everyone pretends to “relax” and be “on holiday” and then create circumstances that demand action and activity. I admit we do a lot of that ourselves by being hyper-conscious of social obligations, but it’s sometimes easier to completely cancel out interaction with humanity than to try and “balance” everything.

Today is an awesome day! We got five foster kittens yesterday to break in the new kitty section of the house (plans to rent out the rooms are now on furry ice). We then got four more today, so we want to take these healthy, home-to-home kitties and give them a safe and happy place to enjoy life before going to their forever homes and families. ❤cookieprofilesideTo celebrate I made a small but gleeful raw cookie dough layer cake – not sure if that’s at all what it is, but that’s too bad, nay? WIAW raw(ish)til4: baked rice hummus stack + what the world eats

For this WIAW I decided to do something wild and different (for me, at least) – a rawtil4 day! I’ve seen lots of bloggers give it a go, and, whilst I’m not convinced about it as a sustainable lifestyle (steamed carrots FTW!), I do eat a lot of raw goods and figured it could be interesting to try it out. I’ve been prepping the whole week with ideas of how to stay full and fed, because my pre-diabetic tendencies mean I cannot eat 10 bananas without the dry mouth and plummeting energy, so this won’t be a collection of monster smoothies. Instead, healthy treats all round!

Lemon curd brownie bliss balls

Sometimes I get stumped by the world of food bloggers. Their jargon and technical means are very much part of a learning process, even after stalking vegan bloggers for a considerable amount of years now. One of these puzzling terms is “bliss balls”. I know, right? It’s a ball and…blissful? Anyway, I’ve seen very many variations of bliss balls after a very dangerous and hunger-inducing search, so I figured whatever I made would just have to be accepted as such.


These bliss balls are actually a gift for pal Charlene, since she was the birthday girl yesterday! I find food to be a super practical gift because you eat it and then it’s done, whereas with items or physical objects there’s not always an agreement on taste or even space! Continue reading

Raw cheesecake with strawberry compote

Weekend! Yay! I’m so psyched to finally have some free time after a crazy busy-boring week. You know, where one minute you’re twiddling your thumbs, sighing loudly, and the next there’s just chaos and anarchy in the world. Bah! The only way to round off such a week is to have cake. Not just any cake, but raw cheesecake! Then of course with the sharing, because this is a rich, healthy but uber nutty delight that is made for many, many servings, all without crazy ingredients! 😀
