Greetings one and all! The hiatus is somewhat over at last! 😀 I’ve missed baking, blogging, and bugging all of you on Instagram and beyond, so I’ve decided the time is nigh to set aside procrastination and other foul things to bring you an easy but versatile recipe. Let me say this, naming is not easy. It was initially a spread, then a drizzle, then a mush… needless to say, not at all tempting. The thing is, depending on how much soy milk you add, it could be any one of those things. Ah well, tuff life choices when you can smear something with kick and creaminess on top of toast or swirl it into homemade nice-cream :p In this post I’m highlighting three ways in which I’ve used the protein cream to give you ideas, not that you aren’t ridiculously creative all by yourselves 🙂 Continue reading
Hallo! I’m sort of here, just to share a daily ritual I’ve been indulging in thanks to the icy nonsense of winter. Seriously, I told myself I wouldn’t complain when we had non-stop heat waves in summer, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling that you’ll never be warm again. Ah well, this breakfast is creamy, easy, and protein-packed: possibly the only reason to wake up and get going in the morning! Continue reading
I know, I know, it’s like I couldn’t make up my mind about what on earth this is. It’s a loaf and works as a bar, so… yep. That’s as big as my brain can go at the moment! With lesson prep for school, a new kitty to integrate (see below!!), and general life to organize, it’s difficult to stay afloat sometimes without a little help. Chocolate helps. Bananas help. Onward ho for munchies! Continue reading
Friday!! Whoo hoo! Well, I don’t want to say not really, since I have so much work to do and little time in which to get it down, but it’s still the principle of the matter: celebrate where and when you can. It’s been a while since I posted something food-related, so I figured I’d dig something out of the draft archives that I’ve wanted to share for a while. These munchies are long gone by now, but they were tasty and easy, so even laziness is no excuse for me to make them again, and for you to try them out 😀
Ok, I’m going to start this all of by reminding everyone that I used to be a diplomat’s brat and spent about 20 years travelling up and down the world, so contrary, I guess, to what most people will imagine, I would happily burn my passport and never leave the country. Nevertheless the thought of disappointing my little siblings was too great a feat to overcome, so Man-thing and I packed up our goodies and presents, and said goodbye to the cats as we marched off to the airport for a holiday. This is a little overview of what we got up to!
Oh my soul, how is it already Wednesday?? Usually I would be clawing at the walls in anguish, waiting for the weekend, but this weekend we’re heading to Morocco for 12 or so days, and I haven’t been on an overseas plane in eight or so years, so yikes! This week is therefore going to be packed with packing, so I decided to share this whilst I still can: a super delicious, not too sweet but utterly decadent tofu PB cream pie!And before I forget, if any of you would like to use Facebook as your main means of being notified of new posts on the blog, take a second to eyeball the following! 🙂 Too many “followers” on Facebook just aren’t getting their fair share of shiny, and I’d really love for every post to reach each and every one of you who are interested. My last exam of the season is tomorrow, so naturally I’m procrastinating: reading fic, watching youtube clips on reincarnated Egyptians (Omm Seti), and generally plotting my life around comfort food. To totally legitimize this terrible behaviour I’m sharing something I’ve been munching a few times now for lunch with much glee: easy chickpea scramble that is so protein-packed you won’t feel hungry for a long while after.
It’s something of a law of nature: our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs (no matter how hard we try) in the holidays. So much baking, faffing and sighing, and then the hard, stale reality of excess that sits in the fridge for a week or two to silently judge us. Or, you know, it’s tough to work out portion ratio per person when everyone treats the holidays differently: some as a challenge of excess, and others as a season of torture and self-control so they don’t come out the other end in stretchy pants.
Moreso than my issue with clothes that don’t fit in January is the leftovers that get out of control. Waste makes me sad, because what we usually get rid of is actually edible. This is a little guide to help you plot what you can do with the never-ending crumbles of what you’ve been scoffing.
You probably can’t believe your eyes but yes, I am sharing a WIAW after a long hiatus on this front. I’ve been sick pretty much the whole year, so my eats have gone rather erratic, from minimalist to stretchy pants, but I figured it’s always cathartic to share one’s munchies (at least for food lovers), so here goes! (Oh, and I had lots of fun with the effects settings on my phone, so forgive the liberties :p)
This weekend was low on sleep and high on snacks and late nights, so forgive my lack of cohesion as I present my delicious lunch from yesterday and my dinner for the week ahead. We haven’t been on a soup kick in a very long time, after spending the first year of marriage making endless pots of the stuff. I’m a creature of habit so it doesn’t phase me, but Man-thing was looking depro so we took a break. I can’t hold back any longer though and re-introducing soup has been an absolute charm. Warm, comforting, and so incredibly easy!
