Marfigs' Munchies

Adventures in vegan eats and feats

You probably can’t believe your eyes but yes, I am sharing a WIAW after a long hiatus on this front. I’ve been sick pretty much the whole year, so my eats have gone rather erratic, from minimalist to stretchy pants, but I figured it’s always cathartic to share one’s munchies (at least for food lovers), so here goes! (Oh, and I had lots of fun with the effects settings on my phone, so forgive the liberties :p)

Gluten-free vegan pumpkin zucchini pie + the winner of Nutrition CHAMPs giveaway

ย I had a little trip to the hospital yesterday, and the end result was a doctor recommending I try gluten-free to see if that will not alleviate symptoms. I wanted to protest and rather went into shock and started rambling about “but I’m vegan” and how I already changed my diet once, rather dramatically, to try and cure this ailment, so how was this now going to help? Luckily I’m a veteran stalker of vegan blogs, and there are so many of you out there who are gluten-free vegans and have survived to tell the tale, not to mention share delicious recipes, so I’m less shattered about it all, but still. I love wheat!
gfveganpiesliced1Before I get carried away, however, I’m also going to announce the winner of Jill Nussinow’s ebook, Nutrition CHAMPS! Thank you to everyone who entered and left comments – click the clicky button to see who won!CHAMPS cover

Winter wellness: warm mango smoothie bowl + 4 tips for outsmarting the cold

Some of you might be confused by this post, knowing that I’m all the way in (currently) sunny South Africa, far from the horrors of the cold that’s swooshing across the northern hemisphere. Well, Man-thing can attest to the fact that I wear sweaters in the middle of summer and currently sleep under three blankets, so there is never such a thing as true summer for me.smoothietop12Having the veteran’s badge for just having survived a real winter, and now rigorously plodding through something just as chilly (at least to my mind), I figured I could whip up and share my favourite new tasty warm mango smoothie bowl and 4 tips for outsmarting the cold. And because you know I can’t sit still verbally or otherwise, I also have 6 smoothie and smoothie bowl round ups and recipes ๐Ÿ˜€
