It’s finally here!! I can’t remember if I’ve been sneaky or not about this ebook (which is possibly another layer of ninja if I can hide even that from myself) but I’ve finished and it’s all yours for free and it’s 100% dedicated to my food mistress: chocolate. No matter how busy I get or how lazy, there’s always time in the day for a nibble on something chocolate-y. I may have something of an addiction, but I’ve decided to make a total chocolate cleanse for myself….with chocolate. And since it’s free, you can “cleanse” with me! 😀 Continue reading
I simply have to share something that’s been taking over my life for the past fortnight or so since my blender broke (one of many). When you have a habit of smoothie bowls for breakfast and no means to an end, you make a plan! With my ancient food processor at my side, I’ve discovered the most delicious, filling, big-portioned monster of a meal that is super diabetic friendly, tastes great and is so modifiable it’s crazy. It is ridiculous at the moment in South Africa – one minute hot and the next cold. All my meal planning goes out the window when I plan for warming oat bowls and steaming zoodles and then it’s all sunshine and chirpiness, or when I haul out the frozen fruit and it starts raining. At any rate I never need many excuses to indulge in something delicious! With that in mind, I’m going to represent the south and share a super easy but delicious and somewhat creamy tangerine grape pop recipe.
Ack! I’m falling behind with everything in life thanks to school starting back up and exam studying going on and on forever, but I have to share this bit of munch since it’s what kept me going today in between rushing from place to place. It’s a super dense, tasty and very much made to be an any-time snack. I’ve named these breakfast doughnuts since I had them for second breakfast, but there’s no shame in filling them with hummus and pesto for a savoury dinner dish with salad even or nice-cream and date paste for something sweet!
I have to study for exams, so naturally I’m procrastinating and thought this would be the perfect time to share something truly delicious 😉 I’ve seen these sorts of treats at the Saturday food market and have quizzed the poor person a few times on how she made hers (which aren’t vegan), but of course I had to veganize it eventually and here it is! Delicious, actually easy, and all done with just a bit of patience 🙂 Continue reading
I love freezer treats so hard. I even have a tag, as you may have seen. Nom nom! It’s a non-stop heat wave in our part of the world and there’s no way to indulge in anything that isn’t chilled to the proverbial bone. This is a little treat, size-wise, but cut it up into little pieces and you have a delicious bit of munch for every day of the week. Sharing is totally optional 😀 And don’t forget about the free mini ebook you can download! Holidays may almost be over but there’s no reason not to spoil yourself every day of the year to come.
It’s something of a law of nature: our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs (no matter how hard we try) in the holidays. So much baking, faffing and sighing, and then the hard, stale reality of excess that sits in the fridge for a week or two to silently judge us. Or, you know, it’s tough to work out portion ratio per person when everyone treats the holidays differently: some as a challenge of excess, and others as a season of torture and self-control so they don’t come out the other end in stretchy pants.
Moreso than my issue with clothes that don’t fit in January is the leftovers that get out of control. Waste makes me sad, because what we usually get rid of is actually edible. This is a little guide to help you plot what you can do with the never-ending crumbles of what you’ve been scoffing.
I made a cake. It’s chocolate and glorious and super easy and it’s done in less than 35 minutes. Need I say more? Nom nom nom.Oh, and because I’ve finally gotten with the programme, I’m now on Instagram! 😀 Perhaps I shouldn’t gloat too much, since it took me more than an hour to figure out how it works, but I’ll get the hang of it eventually. Either way, it seems like a great excuse to eat shiny looking food and make everyone jealous of my foster cats. That’s kind of the point, right? 😉 Continue reading
The other day I asked for suggestions for stuff to make, because my brain is kind of on auto-pilot at the moment. Enter sticky date pudding! Not quite traditional in looks, but it hits the spot and does so with natural ingredients and NO added processed sugar. I can’t say whether I enjoy the muffin-sized cakes or the sauce more, so let’s just say that together they work magic.
