Ahoy from Morocco! The radio silence on the blog and elsewhere has been the result of intense tourist vibes, but I had to stop and say hi with some delicious cake that we munched last week before leaving for Rabat.
I made a cake. It’s chocolate and glorious and super easy and it’s done in less than 35 minutes. Need I say more? Nom nom nom.Oh, and because I’ve finally gotten with the programme, I’m now on Instagram! 😀 Perhaps I shouldn’t gloat too much, since it took me more than an hour to figure out how it works, but I’ll get the hang of it eventually. Vegan Mofo is doing a number on my pants size…or maybe that’s just how it goes when the world is full of delicious ingredients! Today’s theme is my favorite late summer food. Since it’s end of winter here in the Southern hemisphere and we’ve skipped over Spring (as usual) and gone straight into the twilight zone, I decided to go with strawberries since it’s one of the few times a year we cross paths with the North and get their end-of-season produce. I’ve been tormented all winter long with berry this and berry that, but I hope I’m not being cruel and that you can still get some in the shops or markets to make this easy and frakkin delicious mini pie!
Crazy mode again! 😀 I was thinking of a super quick way to get some deliciousness in during the afternoons before embarking on the power walks around the neighbourhood a friend and I try and take during the weekdays, and this came up. I’m more often than not out of bananas and there are always apples for Man-thing’s daily fruit rations (since chocolate does not and should not count), so yum! The chilly drink with the warm cake bits… oh yes please!
Ta da! Ok, can I get my strut on for finally making an opera cake? Please? Marfigs style, of course, but so silly delicious that I had a hard time slicing this up without eating everything, because there’s few pleasures in life as satisfying as making a layer cake (for food nerds, I guess).
