Ahoy from Morocco! The radio silence on the blog and elsewhere has been the result of intense tourist vibes, but I had to stop and say hi with some delicious cake that we munched last week before leaving for Rabat.
I made a cake. It’s chocolate and glorious and super easy and it’s done in less than 35 minutes. Need I say more? Nom nom nom.Oh, and because I’ve finally gotten with the programme, I’m now on Instagram! 😀 Perhaps I shouldn’t gloat too much, since it took me more than an hour to figure out how it works, but I’ll get the hang of it eventually. Either way, it seems like a great excuse to eat shiny looking food and make everyone jealous of my foster cats. That’s kind of the point, right? 😉 Continue reading
YAY! It’s finally here – a giveaway of my favourite brand of goodies: NuNaturals 😀 You may have seen it in the ingredient list of most of my recipes and there’s a reason for that. It is the most versatile range of products to give flavour and sweetness to my daily and special treats without the dread of sugar rushes and diabetes, and apart from that just tastes fabulous! Vegan Mofo is doing a number on my pants size…or maybe that’s just how it goes when the world is full of delicious ingredients! Today’s theme is my favorite late summer food. Since it’s end of winter here in the Southern hemisphere and we’ve skipped over Spring (as usual) and gone straight into the twilight zone, I decided to go with strawberries since it’s one of the few times a year we cross paths with the North and get their end-of-season produce. I’ve been tormented all winter long with berry this and berry that, but I hope I’m not being cruel and that you can still get some in the shops or markets to make this easy and frakkin delicious mini pie!
Crazy mode again! 😀 I was thinking of a super quick way to get some deliciousness in during the afternoons before embarking on the power walks around the neighbourhood a friend and I try and take during the weekdays, and this came up. I’m more often than not out of bananas and there are always apples for Man-thing’s daily fruit rations (since chocolate does not and should not count), so yum! The chilly drink with the warm cake bits… oh yes please!
Ta da! Ok, can I get my strut on for finally making an opera cake? Please? Marfigs style, of course, but so silly delicious that I had a hard time slicing this up without eating everything, because there’s few pleasures in life as satisfying as making a layer cake (for food nerds, I guess). This is a little teaser for the kind of ridiculousness you can expect in my upcoming ebook (which still needs a title, tears!) because there’s a sneaky secret ingredient which calls for smugness. And cake! Continue reading
The internet has exploded into a frenzy of yellow and chocolate and all good things, so I’ve decided to contribute in my own, Marfigian way to the whole show by bringing you this fun, gluten-free cracked vegan chocolate egg cake! 😀
Green! Green everywhere! I see green at every single meal I eat, so St Paddy’s Day being around the corner is a solid excuse to indulge in celebrating the aesthetics of the occasion at the very least, since a bit of research on what the Irish actually eat is pretty non-vegan, to say the least. Here be a round up of green vegan recipes and topped with a sweet potato matcha cake recipe!
V-day isn’t just about being in romantic relationships, thankfully. There is so much reason to love in the world every single day, but since humans love their holidays and themes, I may as well share some treats that can be whipped up to spoil friends (for a palentines day), family, or even just yourself (most legit of all).
I quote: “I will be your ETERNAL munchkin slave if you pull it off”. This is what Man-thing said when I quizzed him about snickers bars and the idea of making a snicker-ish cake (or a snickers parfait, which is for another magical time). I think I managed some swoon factor, for sure, though I forgot the bladdy peanuts, hence the reason this isn’t called a snickers cake and why Man-thing narrowly missed Munchkin status. I like to stick to the rules, after all. This cake, however, is on another mission altogether – super indulgent, hom nom goodness using healthy ingredients but far from being a spinster cake. Oh no, this is the naughty nun, the grinning grinch!
