This all started because I wanted to make a legit 3-ingredient cake or something, except it didn’t quite work out that way, so now I’m left with 7 ingredients, excluding spices, which obviously don’t count :p Something super easy and winsome to whip up when you know you’re going to have one of those awful weeks where you grab-and-go, or for if you have a social event that doesn’t require something too spectacular on looks but delicious in taste. Greetings one and all! The hiatus is somewhat over at last! 😀 I’ve missed baking, blogging, and bugging all of you on Instagram and beyond, so I’ve decided the time is nigh to set aside procrastination and other foul things to bring you an easy but versatile recipe. Let me say this, naming is not easy. It was initially a spread, then a drizzle, then a mush… needless to say, not at all tempting. The thing is, depending on how much soy milk you add, it could be any one of those things. Ah well, tuff life choices when you can smear something with kick and creaminess on top of toast or swirl it into homemade nice-cream :p In this post I’m highlighting three ways in which I’ve used the protein cream to give you ideas, not that you aren’t ridiculously creative all by yourselves 🙂 Continue reading
Hallo! I’m sort of here, just to share a daily ritual I’ve been indulging in thanks to the icy nonsense of winter. Seriously, I told myself I wouldn’t complain when we had non-stop heat waves in summer, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling that you’ll never be warm again. Ah well, this breakfast is creamy, easy, and protein-packed: possibly the only reason to wake up and get going in the morning! Continue reading
Whoo hoo! Ever since I finished exams I have been living life to the full…or at least getting full on these carrot oat balls. Same thing, nay? Anyhow, since I am unchained for the moment I have a breath to catch in time and space and start getting all my ducks in a row for the next few adventures: my teaching practicals starting at the beginning of next month, a possible cool second job that will make me feel rich, a trip to Morocco to plan (ARGH!), and other treats like homing kittens and attending courses on how to be an awesomesauce teacher. Well, if you thought that was a mouthful you should see the inside of my head: it’s just a non-stop blab fest, which is why I’m going to switch over to food now to calm us all down again 😀
But before I forget, don’t miss out on your free downloadable chocolate-themed vegan ebook! There’s sneaky veggies and fruit and protein, so you won’t feel bad or guilty if that’s how you secretly view chocolate. Celebrate and munch!
I simply have to share something that’s been taking over my life for the past fortnight or so since my blender broke (one of many). When you have a habit of smoothie bowls for breakfast and no means to an end, you make a plan! With my ancient food processor at my side, I’ve discovered the most delicious, filling, big-portioned monster of a meal that is super diabetic friendly, tastes great and is so modifiable it’s crazy. Ack! I’m falling behind with everything in life thanks to school starting back up and exam studying going on and on forever, but I have to share this bit of munch since it’s what kept me going today in between rushing from place to place. It’s a super dense, tasty and very much made to be an any-time snack. I’ve named these breakfast doughnuts since I had them for second breakfast, but there’s no shame in filling them with hummus and pesto for a savoury dinner dish with salad even or nice-cream and date paste for something sweet!
It’s something of a law of nature: our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs (no matter how hard we try) in the holidays. So much baking, faffing and sighing, and then the hard, stale reality of excess that sits in the fridge for a week or two to silently judge us. Or, you know, it’s tough to work out portion ratio per person when everyone treats the holidays differently: some as a challenge of excess, and others as a season of torture and self-control so they don’t come out the other end in stretchy pants.
Moreso than my issue with clothes that don’t fit in January is the leftovers that get out of control. Waste makes me sad, because what we usually get rid of is actually edible. This is a little guide to help you plot what you can do with the never-ending crumbles of what you’ve been scoffing.
Today’s recipe isn’t so much a recipe as it is a squashing together of ingredients that come together to be super tasty. I’ve been on the chia train for the past fortnight or so and it has done an admirable job of keeping me full, so I decided to pair it with oats for a powerhouse of fullness and nutrition. Some of you may know that despite life getting the best of me sometimes, I like to plan ahead and have as much control as possible. Well, this has been on my to-do list since last year October, and I’m only now getting around to making it, but the point is I did, so suck it studies – I can totally multitask! 😀 Continue reading
