This all started because I wanted to make a legit 3-ingredient cake or something, except it didn’t quite work out that way, so now I’m left with 7 ingredients, excluding spices, which obviously don’t count :p Something super easy and winsome to whip up when you know you’re going to have one of those awful weeks where you grab-and-go, or for if you have a social event that doesn’t require something too spectacular on looks but delicious in taste. I know, I know, it’s like I couldn’t make up my mind about what on earth this is. It’s a loaf and works as a bar, so… yep. That’s as big as my brain can go at the moment! With lesson prep for school, a new kitty to integrate (see below!!), and general life to organize, it’s difficult to stay afloat sometimes without a little help. Chocolate helps. Bananas help. Onward ho for munchies! Continue reading
Oh my soul, how is it already Wednesday?? Usually I would be clawing at the walls in anguish, waiting for the weekend, but this weekend we’re heading to Morocco for 12 or so days, and I haven’t been on an overseas plane in eight or so years, so yikes! This week is therefore going to be packed with packing, so I decided to share this whilst I still can: a super delicious, not too sweet but utterly decadent tofu PB cream pie!And before I forget, if any of you would like to use Facebook as your main means of being notified of new posts on the blog, take a second to eyeball the following! 🙂 Too many “followers” on Facebook just aren’t getting their fair share of shiny, and I’d really love for every post to reach each and every one of you who are interested. It’s finally here!! I can’t remember if I’ve been sneaky or not about this ebook (which is possibly another layer of ninja if I can hide even that from myself) but I’ve finished and it’s all yours for free and it’s 100% dedicated to my food mistress: chocolate. No matter how busy I get or how lazy, there’s always time in the day for a nibble on something chocolate-y. I may have something of an addiction, but I’ve decided to make a total chocolate cleanse for myself….with chocolate. And since it’s free, you can “cleanse” with me! 😀 Continue reading
My last exam of the season is tomorrow, so naturally I’m procrastinating: reading fic, watching youtube clips on reincarnated Egyptians (Omm Seti), and generally plotting my life around comfort food. To totally legitimize this terrible behaviour I’m sharing something I’ve been munching a few times now for lunch with much glee: easy chickpea scramble that is so protein-packed you won’t feel hungry for a long while after.
Ack! I’m falling behind with everything in life thanks to school starting back up and exam studying going on and on forever, but I have to share this bit of munch since it’s what kept me going today in between rushing from place to place. It’s a super dense, tasty and very much made to be an any-time snack. I’ve named these breakfast doughnuts since I had them for second breakfast, but there’s no shame in filling them with hummus and pesto for a savoury dinner dish with salad even or nice-cream and date paste for something sweet!
I have to study for exams, so naturally I’m procrastinating and thought this would be the perfect time to share something truly delicious 😉 I’ve seen these sorts of treats at the Saturday food market and have quizzed the poor person a few times on how she made hers (which aren’t vegan), but of course I had to veganize it eventually and here it is! Delicious, actually easy, and all done with just a bit of patience 🙂 Continue reading
I’m a cookie monster. That is, I can slay a packet in seconds flat but creating them is another story altogether. Somehow I have the motivation to make layered cakes, baklava and even chutney from scratch, but cookies are terrifying? Well, quirks and what not. Or laziness. Either way, it’s holiday (is my gloating getting to be a bit much? :D) so I have no excuses. Cookies for everyone! Continue reading
The best part of my weekends is going to the Saturday market. Fresh air, outside vibes, people watching, family, and a delicious falafel wrap. I don’t always indulge but sometimes I buy a stack of their homemade spinach wraps to munch during the week, and with a hankering for protein I made some super quick and easy burgers to stuff inside them. Healthy and a real treat!
It’s Monday! I have no idea how that happened, other than blinking away the weekend. We’re mired in a heat wave at the moment and yet somehow I ended up in front of an oven the whole of yesterday, baking away on what felt like a billion projects. This one was meant to just be a hearty meal, but it managed to get the Man-thing stamp of approval, so you know it has to be shiny! Whether you’re up north enjoying the spoils of snow, or down south and happy to eat cold leftovers, this is a dish that can be made with ridiculously little effort, which is always in season.
